Another Shakespeare!

Well, I found a quote of Shakespeare's that I love. I found it in Michael deMeng's book, Secrets of Rusty Things. I loved it so much I had to include it in a painting. This one turned out so nice. I collaged the dress and had such a struggle with the apron! I tried so many versions in my mind. Finally I whitewashed the same paper that I had cut away. Now it looks like a sheer apron over a dress of the same pattern. I love the way it turned out. But it was hard to arrive at the right effect. The lettering is in pencil. There is gold paint on her hair, the sun, and the flowers, but you can't see it in my pictures. The edges of the board are collaged with dotted paper. I really like the way it looks. It is different than what I usually do. I usually use more muted colors, but this one is so bright and cheery.

Annette, I just saw what I presume is a picture of you. Didn't you say earlier this month that you had just become grandma? How could that possibly be?? You look around 30. If you had darker hair you would look a lot like Sandra Bullock, who I think gorgeous. That's not fair that you are a grandma and look like that!:) :)
Hope you are having a great weekend!

That's beautiful! Shakespeare is so inspiring and I love what you've done with it :)

I like everything about your pictures, but the thing that strikes me is the words you put it. They look just perfect within the picture. Do you do them with paint? or ink? They're works of art in themselves.

Thanks Julie for visiting. I love it when that magic happens in a painting.

Carol, that picture is a couple of years old I guess and, yes, it is of me. I am old enough to be a grandma. I actually don't like many pictures of myself, but this one I like. Thanks for the nice compliments.

Welshcake, I have been using colored pencils for the words. They are the softer art pencils that are more expensive. I purchased them when I was taking art classes in college and still have them! I use paint for the inside highlights in the letters. I'd like to try ink and paint for the words also.
