AARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!

"I can't stand it! I just can't stand it!!!" -- Who said that? I think it was Charlie Brown. That's how I feel tonight! I sketched this wonderful angel who was delicate, beautiful, and unique!! I sketched her on my canvas, (trying canvas tonight) and by the time I'm done, she is a totally different creature! Why does that happen? I want the original angel I had planned. The other angel is ok, I like her, but I LOVED the sketch!!!!

Anyway, I'm going to be posting some art to ebay soon. And I have decided to put up some prints on etsy. They will be prints that I embellish with acrylic, shimmering, shiny, stuff. I hope that they turn out. They are really small, so I am wondering if I offer them at a small price if it will be worth it to put them on etsy, because I read that I have to post each individually. Perhaps I can sell them as a sheet, (they are printed on a large sheet). What do you think, Etsy people?

I wonder what you mean when you say small? price wise because your pieces are beautiful and so is your talent and technique. Don't sell yourself too small just because it is a small size :) Your artwork is really very good with a style that people will want to collect.

The fees for etsy are very minimal. I have seen people take photos of a group of necklaces and then write in the description - "items are $18.00 each please specify which necklace you would like sent in your order.." These had one word on them and were extremely easy to identify.

I am tying out my etsy legs soon too, so, I'll be glad to email anything I think might be worth sharing.

best regards and as alway, your work delights me :)

Thanks mistie,
I love the link. I don't know how to make jewelry like that. I need to find out.

My smallest print is probably 2 x 2or something close to that. The largest is about 12" x 6". They are printed on a cardstock. I thought I would embellish them a little before sending them out.

Thanks for your encouragement!
Anni

I feel your pain! This disappointment is my I just generally sketch write on where Im going to paint (that and I seem to have a short attention span) you might try using a projector though and just trace your image. They have them at craft stores and you can get them (or backlit tracing machines) for pretty cheap.

I feel the same way about my drawings to paintings. My drawings are so sweet, but my paintings look more harsh. What happens to my lovelies when I apply paint to them? They disappear and are replaced with other ladies. Lovely ladies, but not my original visions. What's up with that?

blaiz,
were you the one that posted this frustration a while ago? I remember someone posting it on their blog and then it happened to me. I am fooled every time! I think, this time it will be different! This time the painting will turn out just like the sketch. But no, it always turns out different from my original sketch book sketch. My son (11) says that it is because painting is harder than drawing. Simple, young, and fresh to the art world. He is probably right.
I want to post some of his artwork. He draws incredible ships with fighting armies and dragons. He filled my whole whiteboard in my classroom with them when he was in 3rd grade and I was teaching 4th. Now I can't get him to draw them anymore!
Anni (sorry to ramble)

Hi Anni,
I think you can offer the little prints as a set so you can charge more. The fees on Etsy are so small that you can't go wrong.

none of my collages turn out even close to the original sketch which is sometimes a good thing and sometimes not. smile!

one thought i had was that you could put the small prints onto greeting cards and sell a set of notes. or maybe put them on magnets. that way you'd be selling a variety of items.i have all these ideas on my etsy shop hit list but a full time job gets in the way.bummer!!

Thanks, Adri and Julie,
I get so many ideas also! The summer is slipping away and I start to teach school soon. I need to try a few of these ideas and get my etsy shop started. I have an account there but haven't stared selling yet.

Anni, it wasn't me who complained about that on my blog, but I've sure been thinking about it a lot! I had a commission recently, and I drew this beautiful, soft and lovely representation of the person who was going to receive the painting. After I painted it, she seemed much harsher. I even held the drawing up againt the painting to try to figure out what happened, to no avail. She loved the painting, so it was okay, but it will never be what I envisioned in my mind.

As far as collages changing, I love that. It's like the collage takes on a life of it's own and tells me what to do next.

I don't mind if my painting idea changes as it goes along, but I just don't like that the ladies aren't as soft as I draw them. Maybe your son is right -- it's a good theory!
